Death at Hyde Park Towers

An evidently unassuming man checked into a London hotel for an apparently intended long duration stay, left out the -DO NOT DISTURB- sign and was discovered dead by the maid 2 weeks later.   An autopsy and coroner's inquest ensued resulting in a finding of death by starvation.                                        How did this occur and what was the purpose of the deceased man's visit to London?         On the basis of the Daily Mail report which can be accessed from this post at the above link, not much light appears to have been shed on the matter.
  * Hyde Park Towers Hotel  where the death occurred,           is a different hotel from Hyde Park Hotel and should not be confused.
